Welcome to Matt & Stacy's Journal of Baby Norbeck!

I will be dating this newest on the top of the page.  Keep your eyes peeled!

Date: 2/21/07

One more month! I cannot believe that she'll be here in a month (give or take a couple weeks, of course).  I feel like I have been pregnant forever  - nine (ten) months is a long time!   Matt and I cannot wait to meet her - to see her face, her little toes, her little fingers... to actually get to hold the fruit of our loins (literally!)

Besides getting impatient, things are going great.  The nursery is pretty much ready.  We just need to finish organizing and do more of her laundry (it's amazing how much clothes she has - thanks to all of our wonderful friends and family!!!)  The crib, dresser/changing table, and glider are all beautiful and we have decorated with her name, the crib comforter, and some shelves.  Maybe I'm partial, but I think Grace will like it.

As for me - I'm still feeling good.  Some days I'm more tired than others, but for the most part it's still a textbook pregnancy. As you can see in the latest picture, my belly is getting very, very large.  I am not sure how much bigger I can get!  Grace is definitely running out of room and sometimes when she moves it is actually painful.  But she's worth it :O)

Date: 1/3/07

Today we had our final (scheduled) ultrasound...  We got to see the baby one more time before we get to meet her in person.  She is looking great!  She weighs 2 lb. 13 oz.  and is on track to weigh 7 lb. 4 oz. at birth.  I am 28 weeks and 5 days pregnant and she is measuring exactly at 28 weeks and 5 days!  Well, except her brain.  It's measuring at 30 weeks!  She obviously takes after me!  (Matt would disagree, but I'm the one writing this, not him!)

Otherwise, all is well.  We had a little scare after the gestational diabetes screening came back positive, but the second test - the three hour one (which really took four hours) - came back normal.  But otherwise, it's a textbook pregnancy.  I have gained about 20 lbs - right on track according to all the books (still hard to fathom, but I know it's all worth it).  I am really showing now; there's no question whether I am with child or not. I am running out of things to wear - and tired of the ones I have. So, when I say I have nothing to wear - I really mean it now!

Well, eleven more weeks!  It's hard to believe that Matt and I are going to be parents that soon!

Date: 11/30 - A note from Melanie (website goddess)

Many of you have inquired whether Gracie is registered…after some prying and careful research I have managed to get this out of Stacy & Matt.

She is registered (via her mom) at Babies “R” Us.  If you’d like to check it out, go to Gracie's Registration  If you’re out of town, you can place your order directly at the Reno store (775-825-2229) for pick up by Stacy and avoid shipping costs.   Please note that Stacy selected Babies “R” Us for convenience.  Please don’t feel obligated to purchase items there; you may find the same items cheaper elsewhere.

I personally would like to thank each of you for patronizing this page...I know Stacy & Matt are happy to share their pregnancy with you...

Date: 11/22:

Well it’s been another month…  According to one of the many, many books I am reading, the baby weighs about one pound now - which doesn’t make any sense since I have gained 13 pounds…  And she sure seems to weigh more than one pound as hard as she kicks!  But overall, things are going really good.  I think pregnancy agrees with me. I haven’t had any real issues: no morning sickness, no odd swelling, and not even any “I’m-going-to-hurt-somebody-right-now-if-I-don’t get-(X)-cravings”.  I’m not even driving Matt crazy… but there’s still time :O)   Matt is so excited; he keeps telling me to hurry up and have the baby.  I explain that I’m doing the best I can…  four more months!

The Doctor did measure me for the first time but didn’t tell me what it was.  But I will admit that I measured my gut the other day and it’s the same size as Matt’s!!!!!!

Otherwise the doc says everything’s right on track… next appt’s 12/5

Date :10/24

Today was the big day!  Had the next ultrasound at the fetal imaging clinic.  All day, I was antsy, perhaps even a little "hormonal."  The anticipation of finding out the gender (if the baby let us see) was killing me.  So, finally 3:00 arrived.  Matt sat right next to me holding my hand.

The doctor took her own sweet time getting all the measurements and such that she needed (we were only there to find out the gender, of course!).  At one point she was looking at the brain, and made a comment, "it's a girl".  Our hearts stopped.  But, then she explained that she was only kidding; she was just saying that since the baby has a brain, it must be a girl.  (Can't disagree with that logic!)

So, after nearly giving Matt a heart attack, she then went and looked in the nether regions and confirmed that it is, in fact, a girl!  Matt and I both cried and Matt jumped ahead 15 years imagining her first date and started to get freaked out.  But he seems to have recovered.  We have plenty of time till her first date after all.

We're so excited!!!!

Date :9/19

Had second appointment with Dr Westfall.  Found out results of first trimester screening.  For a woman my age, the average chance of having a child with down syndrome is 1 in 277; Baby N 's chances are 1 in 5134!  And for trisomy 13/18, chances are 1 in 491, and baby N is 1 is 9801.  So, the odds are good that the baby’s healthy and I probably won’t need an amnio (yippee!).    Next appointment is on 10/17.

Date :9/12

Went to the fetal imaging clinic for a first trimester screening (it gives an estimate of the chances for down syndrome and trisomy 13 and 18 – whatever that is).  Was hoping to find out the gender, but alas, the baby was too shy to show us (takes after me).  S/he also proved to be very stubborn, not moving into the necessary positions to take measurements. Guess s/he takes after his/her dad :O) Oh, the baby was 2 ¼ inches long.  We go back on October 24th; should find out the gender then!
